In the industry field of hospitality, it is hard to locate specific companies that are emerging due to the tough economic times. However, that does not mean that there are none. Many of these companies are being based in, or are finding markets in India to be exceptionally well to work in due to the labor laws and prospective business clients going to the country for business related travel.
Some of the companies to look for include Reliance Industries, who will be working on building two hotels in the upcoming years, World Hotels, who will be building a new resort in Maharashtra as well as new business hotels in both New Delhi and the city of Chennai.
In a report by the World Travel and Tourism Council, it is expected that India will see 6,179,000 international visitors in this year alone. This massive wave of international business will also help the car aspect of the hospitality industry because it is predicted in the same report that the roughly 6.2 million visitors will create $15.05 billion in visitor spending, transportation and other services needed.
It is estimated that the travel industry will grow at a rate of 8.8% in the next 10 years, thus leaving a large opening for companies to start building and creating new jobs in many of the tourism sectors. Many can take the same strategic route that Hilton, Marriot and Best Western took by providing both high ends through low ends level hotel services. By taking advantage of this marketing strategy, the smaller companies can actually compete with the bigger chain hotels. In cases like InterContinental Hotels Group, they can become so powerful that companies such as Holiday Inn Express in this case, will want to team up and open a hotel jointly.
If, however, the companies wish to stay independent and compete by themselves, it is possible to maintain as a leading competitor to the chain hotels. An example of this would be RIL which was mentioned before. They have been offered to be bought out by both Hilton and Lebua Hotels and Resorts, but have turned down both offers. This company has shown an ability to make even the most top dollar chains come to them for advice and help in breaking into the India market of hotels. Many hospitality experts feel that with the new hotels in the Mumbai Bandra Kurla Complex, RIL will be able to claim to be one of the first India based hotel providers to be able to effectively compete with companies such as Hilton, Marriot and Hyatt.
