As we suspected the Marriot is among the most international hospitality companies. Just last April the managing director and president of Marriott Lodging International, Ed Fuller, spoke at “Hotel Ezra Cornell (HEC)” – Cornell University’s annual hospitality conference. Fuller spoke about how this industry is growing on a global level. Surprisingly, Brazil, Russia, India and China are said to have the most potential market growth. Europe and the U.S. are no longer leading in this area. However, Fuller pointed out two ways in which the U.S. will see growth in the hospitality industry.
1. An increase in inbound travelers
2. [Domestic] Companies will pursue development opportunities outside the country
Fuller also stressed that companies will need to understand the culture and the history of wherever their business is located.
Along with the Marriott, Hilton Worldwide is among the most global hotels (hence the name). The name is not the only evidence of how global this company is. One visit to their website and you will be blown away by everything this company does.
Directly from their site:
-“Ten brands, more than 3,750 hotels, and 130,000 team members across 84 countries make us the world's leading hospitality company.”
-“ With over 610,000 hotel rooms worldwide, we're one of the largest hospitality companies in the world.”
It doesn’t end there however. Their CSR is also done on a global level.
*The senior vice president of corporate strategy and treasure of Hilton Worldwide, Kevin Jacobs, also spoke at HEC.

Since I did the second part of this question, I would also agree that companies in the industry especially hotels try to understand a foreign country's culture and its consumer's prefrences to be able to succeed in global markets. I would say good job in choosing these two hotel chains as the most global.
